Transforming the unimaginable into something more

Today we interviewed Bre Lasley. On September 23, 2015, she survived an attempted murder. Listening to Bre recount the events of that evening, sent chills through our bones. It’s hard to imagine the horror that climbed through her window and changed the course of her life.

Sharing our stories, and showing how we climb out of the darkness is transformational. The residue of pain left over from a tragedy never goes away. It’s like a scar that becomes part of our skin. The goal is to grow a new life around the wound, to expand beyond our darkest moments. Bre shows us how her real battle began after her attacker had been killed by officer Ben. Fighting back isn’t always physical. Self-defense is so much more than hitting, kicking and biting. Bre tells us that our mental state and beliefs, as well as our spiritual connections, are more compelling than punches. She shares the statistics that say 80% of women don’t fight back. Bre continued her fight and survived on hope and love. She will share with us how love saved her and her sister. Love for each other and for the promise that there was a future that needed to be lived. She has turned her story of horror into a story of honor and hope.
